Spinifex Mouse is one lucky guy!

Hi folks!

Oh I so miss this place!  I really do want to blog more often and stay in touch.  There’s lots that’s been going on in my life – and at the same time not so much at all.  You know how it is.  I;ve been uber busy, but I couldn’t tell you exactly what I’ve been doing!

I know I’ve had projects I really wanted to accomplish, in particular, a desktop calendar and a wall calendar for 2013 which are still a bunch of patterns on the hard drive.  It’s just that this is the last year with my boy before full time school next year and in juggling my time between being a mum and building my creative biz, he wins out every time!  So the calendars will have to wait until next year me thinks.  But that’s ok.

What I did want to share with you today though is this gorgeous little hardcover story called Spinifex Mouse.  Written and illustrated by a local sandgroper too none-the-less which is always a bonus.  It’s a beautiful story of a cheeky little hopping native spinifex mouse who has many adventures in the Aussie bush.  Every morning when his family return from their evening foraging for food,  he sneaks out to look for even more food and mischief.  But alas, when he is swept up in the talons of a hungry eagle Cheeky’s life turns upside down and he learns a very valuable lesson about himself.

What I loved was how relevant this was to my own son too.  Sometimes being a bit cheeky can be fun and ok, but when you take it too far, it starts to define who you are in not so positive ways.  A really valuable life lesson here!

I’ll be back soon for some more pre-christmas thoughts and stuff!  Stay tuned  and take care :)
