I was recently listening to Bill Johnson speaking on the theme of hunger. Not in the literal food-type way, but in the spiritual sense. Something in particular that he said really made me tune in and take notice. Bill said that hunger releases a capacity for dreaming. That’s cool. Hunger releases a capacity for dreaming…
In the natural, when we are hungry, we eat and our hunger is satiated and we are fulfilled. But in the spiritual, when we eat it increases our hunger for more. Now there’s an oxymoron for you… It works in the reverse too. If we stop hungering after the things that we are passionate about, then we become less and less passionate about those things, and our dreams lose their opacity… We stop creating, we stop searching for inspiration, we stop going forward towards our destination. And more importantly, we stop becoming who we are meant to be. In short, we lose sight of our True North and veer away from living authentic lives…
I’ve noticed this effect in my own life. As a young girl I was creative and passionate and inspired easily. I had dreams and believed I could. But through my twenties, for various reasons, I stopped being creative. I stopped dreaming and made very sensible, grown up decisions. And as I did, some of those dreams dried up. And as they did, I found my hunger shrivelled along with them. I won’t say it did completely though. I knew that it was there, but it definitely needed watering and a lot of time and tlc.
But the last three years has been an unearthing again of the things I used to be passionate about. Breathing life back into those dreams. The passions and dreams that were put on shelves and am now giving voice to. As my hunger for all the wonderful possibilities in my life grows, so do my dreams. It’s true, they do go hand in hand.
But enough about me, how about you. What do you hunger after? What are you passionate about? Chat with me, I miss you xd

Hi Donna, my passion is food. Everything about it from growing to cooking to eating, just can’t get enough. My dream is too travel to unheard off villages around the world and live, learn, cook and eat with the local folk and just emerge myself in there way off life. I want to video the whole experience and create video journals. When i went to bali for the first time last year i jumped on a push bike and toured around, and I found myself been drawn to little places, away from the tourist rat race, eating food everyone warned me against, and just sitting and watching cooking techniques and eating some of the best food. I think we can learn so much from the simple way of life living in a community village brings. Really can’t wait too do it again. Thanks for the blog.
