If you could go back to your eight year old self now in a time machine and giver her/him any words of wisdom, what would it be? What would you tell your little self not to be afraid of? Whom not to listen to? Wouldn’t it be great! It was this stream of thought which inspired this new painting for me. This is Florence, our new cat – well actually I’m not sure if she will be Florence or Pearl, but anyway… That record there ( do you even know what a record is???!) is an a replica of one of my childhoos records. I had read along books with records and I loved following along and listening to the stories…

If I could go back in a time machine and visit my eight year old self, I would tell her this:
You are so brave and adventurous – don’t take the safe road – explore this wide beautiful world!
You are not big boned – just a beautiful, healthy little girl.
You can run – despite what Sr Clare says.
You are an artist, even though you didn’t paint the big rabbit on the shed wall…
Being an all-rounder isn’t a bad thing – it’s great!
Don’t worry if Cheryl Marron deosn’t want to play with you or be your friend – you have no idea how many awesome friends are ahead of you as you journey through life – there’s heapsa and they’re beautiful, inspiring and encouraging people…
So… How about you? What woul dyou say to your eight year old self? How could those thoughts inspire you to create your own painting? Why not blog about it and link back to here, I’d love to see!
