Here’s a few new paintings I completed last night. I have a ‘thing’ for seed pods, shells and interesting bits of nature. I collect them and love to incorporate them into my art sometimes. I also love line, it’s complexity and simplicity all at the same time. And these pieces were done on some beautiful wooden boards I purchased from the states which I absolutely love. I loved them so much I couldn’t paint over all of it and hence have left some peeking through and on edges, which I think looks beautiful…

I’m loving Wyanne’s Paint Free class at the moment too. I got to travel back to my childhood whilst painting this little number…

I loved horses as a young girl and always dreamt of having my own. Now living in the suburbs meant this wasn’t possible, but I always imagined myself walking one around the backyard, leading it from the shed (it’s stable) to eat green pasture (the back lawn). Blosssom (the name I always loved for a horse) has all teh best features highlited – a hairy bottom lip, soft big nostril, shaggy fringe and mane… And of course, a big tear because she is so sad that we are only in a dream. And, she is surrounded by my tears too. But the story has a very happy ending, because I did in fact go on to buy my very own horse when I was in my twenties. Although her name wasn’t Blossom, it was Belle!
