Today we went to the local farmer’s markets. It’s the Big Sky Writer’s Festival on this weekend and there was a bush poet’s breakfast. I do love myself some good Aussie bush poetry! Especially Turbulence – I laugh myself to tears every time! It’s a perfect spring day here in WA too. And I do love myself a good bargain. For twenty bucks I scored myself some very yummy Red Gum honey, a bag full of vegies, two sausage sizzles for the kids, a cup of coffee for me and a beautiful big bunch of Geraldton Wax for my studio…

In other news – I finally broke the white on my BIG canvas (well, big for me). It’s five feet by 4 feet (why am I still talking in imperial?) Look here ’tis…

I thought I had a handle on the whole ‘fear thing’ but this one has me hook, line and sinker. It’s been a battle just to get those colours on the canvas. I have a notion in my head, but no real images or even colours that I am definite on – so what to do? Do I just push through and trust my intuition, or wait for more of an idea to form? If any of you have a handbook with directions as to what to do next, I’d love a tip
And last but certainly not least I wanted to show you this – my daughter picked these for me the other day whilst out walking the dog – aren’t they absolutely gorgeous!?

It’s a weed, but I was so taken with the way nature combined those two colours – purple and blu – and in real life they were almost irridescent. Isn’t it amazing how we write them off as mere weeds, but in so doing, miss out on the beauty they have to offer? Funny isn’t it, how we can learn such an amazing lesson from something as insignificant as a weed…
Stay well dear friends…

Thanks for the giggle Don… I do LOVE Turbulance… modern day version of Banjo Paterson’s Mulga Bill’s Bicycle don’t you think?

I always enjoy farmer’s markets! I love the colors on that canvas and your daughter picked the most beautiful sweet flowers. Have alovely merry happy weekend and love to you!
I sympathize with you about your fear of the “big canvas”! I have a 5′x5′ canvas staring at me right now! I’ve never done ANYTHING that big – and it’s a commission – yikes! lol! At least it’s for a friend
Thanks for the inspiration to just get it started!
I love the colours you’ve chosen btw, I think it will be great!
Happy creating!
Cindy
I have that same feeling about “too big” of a space to work on. I still have not broken the barrier of 8″x10″ -so BRAVO that you have started to chisel away at the beast.
