Yesterday, I was sitting on the front lawn of a friend’s house. our children were running around and having a lovely time in the late afternoon sun, when my 3 year old son ran up to me and climbing onto my lap, placed my face in his little hands and said.. (are you sitting down, ‘coz this really is amazing…)
“You’re a good person mum” (I know – amazing hey!) and then he said it again, just to make sure I understood it… “You’re a good person mum” with the emphasis on the ‘good’… He’s three… Three.
I could hardly believe it. I was floored. I was humbled. I was in love… I was amazed and thankful for this beautiful little man. Kids can be such hard work sometimes. Sometimes I have almost heard myself repeat my mother’s anguished cries of “you kids could drive a mother to drink!” I’ve been to the edge, I’ve been at the end of my rope too. But today was my turn in the three year old spotlight. And it was Oh. So. Sweet…
